With its vast open spaces, array of local attractions and vibrant culture and sporting scenes it’s no surprise why so many students decide to make it their home away from home. Whatever you want from your flight school experience, you’ll find it at Orange Wings Aviation Academy ® and Pompano Beach.
Pompano’s World Famous Beach
Pompano Beach is over 100 yards wide with fine golden sand making it one of the most beautiful family friendly beaches in South Florida. With an interactive water fountain, playground, outdoor fitness equipment, and picnic areas, all overlooking the ocean.
Did you know that the beach witnessed the first ever twin engine flight? Nowadays its home to two surf clubs, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and a whole array of water based activities. You can even drive on it during the day.
Perfect for a day trip are the Florida theme parks including the famous Uncle Bernie’s Theme Park, Planet Air Sports, All Saints Carnival , Off the Wall Trampoline Fun Center , Diamond Strike Lanes, Hildebrand rides . Or if you can’t be away from aviation too long head down to the Kennedy Space Centre. All are within an hours drive from Pompano Beach.
We’re blessed with pretty much every cuisine from around the world to suit every budget and with on accommodation gym’s at almost all our apartments you’ll be able to work it all off.
OWA® provides a student cab that picks up and drops off at the apartments each day which is included in the Course package. Some students elect to buy a car, which they then sell at the end of their training. Some keep fit by cycling in. Our admissions team can help you choose the best way.
Home of Shipwreck Park and Lady Luck (sunk July 2016), along with sixteen other wrecks Pompano Beach is a divers paradise where you can swim from shore to experience the coral reefs. The warm gulfstream current that flows parallel to the shoreline with the linear reef creates perfect conditions for drift diving also known as valet diving.
Named for the Pompano, Pompano Beach has some of the world’s best sports fishing; the best topography and temperature of the Atlantic Ocean just east of the beach are the perfect habitat for many sport fish. No fishing license required.
Pompano Beach has water adventures galore, for both the young and young at heart; from kayaking, jet skiing, boating to luxury dinner cruises.
Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park features live entertainment daily in a smoke free environment. It has 38 live action poker tables and 1,500 slot machines with 6 restaurants to choose from. It is the winter capital of Harness Racing. The Park also offer simulcasting of Harness and Thoroughbred Racing, Jai Lai Games and Greyhound Racing from over 20 venues across North America.
The Festival Flea Market is the largest indoor flea market in the US, very popular with visitors! Pompano Beach offers a vast array of dining choices, from Zagat rated fine dining restaurants, to casual bistros and tropical beach bars, many featuring live entertainment and great happy hours.

Pompano Beach is a perfect location for a romantic destination wedding at one of the popular beach hotels or a private cruise on the intracoastal or at the historic Sample-McDougald House. Beach permits can be purchased at Emma Lou Civic Center and marriage licenses must be purchased from the Broward County Clerk of Courts.
Catch an event at the City’s new Cultural Center, stroll through the Baily Contemporary Arts, browse the Ali or attend a concert at the Amp. There are also ongoing events and festivals happening around the City.
